Michael C. Mahoney passed away May 19th, 2024. He was the son of Dorothy (Edmonds) and Leo Mahoney. Born in Keene Valley, NY on August 19, 1945. Michael was raised in the University section of Syracuse, NY attending Central Tech for most of his high school years and graduating from Jamesville DeWitt. He attended Arizona State University. He went on to work for the airlines retiring from Delta in Austin, Texas where he lived for 44 years.
Over the years Michael enjoyed traveling, music, and art. He volunteered at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden in Austin. He was a talented artist who created beautiful works, including handmade cards, which he lovingly shared with many cherished friends and family members.
Michael was a friend to many, always giving no matter the need. He shared his father's humor and generosity, as well as his mother's ability to jump in and be there when needed. He kept in touch with many lifelong friends. He lived this legacy until shortly before his death.
Michael longed to return to the Adirondack Mountains of Keene Valley, NY and will be laid to rest next to his parents. There will be a graveside service at Norton Cemetery in Keene, NY on June 8th, 2024 at 10:30 am. At 11:30 am we will gather at the Au Sable Inn in Keene Valley for food, fellowship and remembering.
Those missing him are his wife Susan; stepsons, Kevin (Brendan) and Sean Williams; grandson, Rhys Williams; sister, Margret Accas; nephew, Owen Accas; nieces, Rachel (Andrew) Poplin, Ashley (Mark) Kelsey; grand niece, Nyomi Sierra; many cousins and friends, especially Tom Hopkins and his family whom he loved deeply as well as neighbors Sandy and Daniel, Randy and Claire.
