Megan Mackinnon

April 3, 1963 — August 29, 2022

Megan Amy Mackinnon was born on April 3, 1963, at Keene Valley Hospital. The daughter of Dr. John Mackinnon and Katherine Mackinnon, Megan was the fourth of four girls and the beloved baby of the family. She lived in Lake Placid.

Megan attended school in Au Sable Forks and graduated from Trumbull High School in Connecticut, where she moved with her family after ninth grade. A talented and dedicated rider from an early age, she spent countless happy hours at pony club at Willow Hill Farm in Clintonville, and her affection for horses was a powerful force throughout her life. She loved to travel and lived in many places over the years, from Connecticut to Colorado to New York City, before coming home to the Adirondacks several years ago. Megan was vivacious and fun, a perceptive observer, a great storyteller, and always resilient.

She is survived by her sisters Anne, Maribeth, and Jane Mackinnon; her stepdad Mitch Dickerson; her nieces Emma, Lucy, Jessie, Danielle, and Emily; grand niece and nephews Neila, Henry, and Oscar; and countless cousins, relatives, and friends.

Family and close friends will gather to remember Megan on Friday, Sept. 2, 2022 at 1:00 pm, at Heidrick-Zaumetzer Funeral Home, 3 College St., Au Sable Forks.

Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Au Sable Forks at a later date.
