Kathleen Haig

February 10, 1949 — October 3, 2024

Katie Haig (formerly Talone) was born in Philadelphia, PA and was raised by her adoptive parents James and Clare Talone in Conshohocken, PA. She was married to her beloved husband Jim since 1980, and they were graced with the birth of daughter Krista in 1984. The family resided in Miquon, PA until 2014, when their residence transitioned to their North Country home in Au Sable Acres, Jay, NY.

Katie graduated from Plymouth Whitemarsh High School in 1967, matriculated at Penn State University and ultimately earned her Master's degree in education at West Chester University.

Katie served as a caseworker for delinquent and dependent youth at the Montgomery County Community Day School and subsequently accepted a position as caseworker for the Montgomery County Office of Children and Youth, where she provided assistance to children who required foster placement prior to potential adoption. Her passion for helping young people finally resulted in her serving as the guidance counselor assigned to Shady Grove Elementary School in the Wissahickon School District, located in Montgomery County, PA. In embracing this position, Katie had finally found her true calling and she faithfully served children with distinction for eleven years.

An accomplished equestrian, Katie was devoted to her thoroughbred Roman Guitar, who thrived in both PA and NY for thirty-three years. Katie was drawn to others as a bee is attracted to flowers in a meadow. She emanated warmth and fully embraced friendships

as a core element of her being. People in turn were drawn to Katie's kind, nonjudgmental nature and maintained friendships with her from high school days throughout her later life.

Katie was a lifelong Jersey Shore girl, although she cherished her Camp Hideaway home in the Adirondacks and created a retirement lifestyle that suited her outgoing personality. She and Jim enjoyed frequent getaways to Chincoteague, Cape Cod, Venice, FL, Maine, New Orleans and Montana and they seized the opportunity to visit Krista in Qatar, where she had accepted employment in a hospital setting in Doha. Katie and Krista also reveled in a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the City of Light, where they fully embraced the Parisian lifestyle.

Katie was a lifelong eternal optimist, and her buoyant, sunny disposition was, literally, infectious. She harbored no resentments and accepted others at face value without exception. She was a devoted wife and Mom, who always regarded the welfare of others to her personal exclusion. She will be sorely missed by all who came within her

orbit and we can only be grateful that we knew and loved KT Sunshine.

Katie is survived by her loving husband Jim and daughter Krista as well as her brother Ted Betoni, Aunt Anita and cousin John Talone. A Spring remembrance in celebration of Katie's life will subsequently be scheduled in Au Sable Forks, NY.
