James Denton, of Black Brook, went to be with our Lord peacefully on November 8, 2024 with family by his side.
Jimbo was born In Wilmington on April 25, 1939, son Hiram and Agnes Denton. Jimbo graduated from Lake Placid High School. In 1967, he married Mary Ann Rondeau at St. Matthew's Church in Black Brook. He was employed as a custodial worker at Au Sable Valley Central School until he retired in 1997.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Laura Denton-Lawrence (Darren) of Wilmington and Jodi Denton (Joel Bartlett) of Saranac Lake; five grandchildren, Cody and Riley Lawrence, Elijah and Mayah Land and Audrey Bartlett; two sisters-in-law Patricia Tender (George) and Deborah Rhino (Jake Freeborn); three brothers-in-law James Rondeau (Gail) and Robert Rondeau (Linda) all of Black Brook and Earl Ladd of Florida as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother and father, he was also pre deceased by his sisters Mary Germain, Carolyn Bessey and Phyllis Ladd whom he was very close to.
There are angels on earth who provided outstanding care, craft projects, car rides, conversations, and love to Jimbo and these include Sarah Tender, Mary Ann Borden, the staff at Elderwood and above all TEAM JIMBO. He was a man who simply loved the little things like coloring, Legos, crafting, and decorating cookies and was grateful for all who spent time with him doing these things.
The family would like to share that on November 9th, Harvard University recovered Jimbo's brain to continue the research on dementia. It is our hope that he will help provide answers to this disease that affects too many people.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Name Church on Thursday, December 5th, at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow in Holy Name Cemetery and a reception at Holy Name School Gym following interment.
Memorial donations may be made to High Peaks Hospice, 309 County Rd 47 Rt 3, Saranac Lake, NY 12943 who provided outstanding care and support to him and his caregivers especially in his final days. He sure was a loved man!
