Geraldine Mitchell

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Geraldine "Gerry" Margaret Mitchell, who was also fondly know as Mabel to her close family and friends, on November 6, 2024. She was born on August 15, 1960, in Plattsburgh, NY, and was a cherished member of the community.

She was a devoted cook at Elderwood at Uihlein Retirement Community prior to retirement, and she poured her heart and soul into her work. Her passion for cooking was matched only by her love for playing bingo, going bowling, and participating in games like bunko and shuffleboard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Sr.; her sister Georgianna, brother Bobby, and brothers-in-law Russ Kelley, Frank Bashaw, George Mitchell, and Stacey Mitchell; as well as parents and in-laws.

Throughout her life, Gerry shared a special bond with her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be treasured by her surviving relatives. Mabel's love for her family knew no bounds, and her memory will live on through her sisters Carol Mickalonis, Edie LaDuke, Patricia Kelley, and Sylvia LaDuke. As well as her brothers Bernard LaDuke and Gordon (Christine) LaDuke; her stepsons Darrin Mitchell and Wayne (Lisa) Mitchell Jr., stepdaughter Rebecca Mitchell; her two step-granddaughters Ashlee Billings and Emily (Pip) Mitchell. Along with brothers and sisters- in-law Wendy (Alan) Aubin, Jane Bashaw, Greg (Gael) Mitchell, and Sally Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews. Gerry also had special friends Monica, Dee, and Helen.

Gerry was inseparable from her husband, as they enjoyed cherished moments in Maine together. She adored the music of Elvis, finding solace and joy in his melodies. Mabel's effervescent spirit and genuine warmth endeared her to all she met. She was a sweetheart who loved unconditionally, touching the lives of many with her graciousness and compassion.

Per Gerry's wishes there will be no services.
