Flora Mae Winch, affectionately known as Bunny, gracefully passed away on April 19, 2024, at the age of 91, surrounded by her loved ones in Wilmington, NY. Born on May 9, 1932, in Keene Valley, NY, to Edward and Florence Ranchor, Bunny was cherished for her extraordinary kindness and unwavering dedication to her roles as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Throughout her life, Bunny cultivated deep connections with those around her, leaving an indelible mark on all she encountered. She was a nurturing presence not only to her children, Bobbie, Janet, Bonnie, Ronald, Kimberly, and Rebecca but also to many others who were fortunate enough to cross her path.
In 1950, Bunny met her beloved husband Robert Winch, Sr., and together they raised their family at Santa's Workshop in Wilmington for 30 years. Her legacy of warmth, generosity, and love will continue to be felt by all who knew her.
Bunny's love for nature was evident in her fondness for Lily of the Valley flowers, vibrant cardinals, and the hummingbirds that graced her porch. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, like crocheting and sharing her delicious homemade donuts, Christmas cookies, and parmesan rolls with family and friends.
Bunny loved to socialize with her church family during luncheons at the Whiteface United Methodist Church in Wilmington and going on outings around the area with her beloved friends Doris Bruce, Agnes Riley, and June Darrah. She would rarely turn down the chance to dance the night away with Don and Bea Peck at the American Legion in Lake Placid.
Flora was preceded in death by her husband Robert Winch, Sr.; her son Robert Winch, Jr.; her siblings Edward "Bud" Ranchor and Elizabeth "Tootsie" Flagg; and her parents Edward and Florence Ranchor.
Bunny is survived by her children Janet (Rick Ano) Booth, Bonnie (Wade) Lawrence, Ronald (Kim Marie) Winch, Kimberly (Howie Peck) Winch, and Rebecca (Don) Drasye; her daughter-in-law Judy Winch; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the beauty of the nature she so dearly cherished.
Services were entrusted to Heidrick-Zaumetzer Funeral Home, 3 College St., Au Sable Forks.
