Elizabeth Shalton

Elizabeth Lorea "Liz" Shalton - beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend - passed away on March 19, 2025 at age 65 in a house fire. Liz lived life with enthusiasm, joy and laughter. She loved children, dogs and the Adirondack Mountains.

Liz was born on October 28, 1959, in Paterson, New Jersey but she was raised primarily in the small town of Jay, the AuSable River and the woods surrounding her home. She worked as a bus monitor for Keeseville Elementary School.

Liz found joy in raising her three children, Cory Prentiss (Irene), Carolyn Puckett (Michael) and Cassandra "Cassie" Prentiss. She was delighted with her 7 grandchildren, Edward, Joshua, Alexander, Jamuson, Rowan, Serenity and Brandon and her 7 great-grandchildren. Liz is survived by her siblings, Richard Shalton, Chester "Chet" Shalton (Amy), Jennifer Lee (Kuang-Po) and Becky Brassard (Don). She is reunited in rest with her parents, Elizabeth and Alexander Shalton, and her brother, Edward Shalton.

A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Liz's life at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the Jay Baptist Church in Jay, NY with interment to follow at the Jay Central Cemetery.

The family kindly requests donations be made in Liz's honor to the Elmore SPCA, PO Box 686, Peru, NY 12972.
