Elizabeth Huber

December 21, 1928 — May 13, 2024

In loving memory of Elizabeth Mary Huber, a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother, whose grace and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. Elizabeth was born on December 21, 1928, in Queens, NYC to Henry and Anna Peters, where she spent her formative years surrounded by the hustle and bustle of city life.

With a heart as warm as her homemade cookies and a spirit as gentle as a butterfly's wings, Elizabeth devoted her life to her family and her faith..

Elizabeth's love knew no bounds as she delighted in creating beautiful clothing for her children, crafting handmade doll clothes, and crocheting blankets and sweaters for her beloved grandchildren. Her home was always filled with love and warmth as she welcomed her family with open arms.

An unwavering pillar of strength, Elizabeth and her husband William, whom she met at church and shared 76 years of marriage with, embarked on countless adventures together, traveling the country to visit family and spreading joy wherever they went. They shared in the holiday traditions, baking delectable treats for Thanksgiving and constructing intricate gingerbread houses at Christmas time.

Elizabeth's devotion extended beyond her family as she frequented the Wilmington Senior Center, where she found solace in the company of friends and enjoyed socializing with fellow members of her community.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother Frederick Peters; and son-in-law Timothy Nicholas.

She is survived by her husband who was the love of her life, William; her children Mary Nicholas, Janet (John) Santoro, Diana (former husband Michael) Heigh, William (Ute) Huber, and Elaine (Joseph) Collins; and 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren with another on the way; and two great-great grandchildren.

As we gather to honor and celebrate Elizabeth's life, we invite friends and family to join us in remembering her legacy with reverence and gratitude. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2024 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Haselton Cemetery in Wilmington.

May her memory forever be a cherished blessing to us all.

Services were entrusted to Heidrick-Zaumetzer Funeral Home, 3 College St., Au Sable Forks.
