Barbara Mae Carnes, a beloved soul who was born on July 12, 1941, passed away on April 4, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family at home in Au Sable Forks, NY. She was a remarkable woman known for her kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering devotion to her loved ones.

Fondly remembered for her love of music, Barbara's joyous melodies will continue to resonate in the souls of those who knew her. Her culinary creations, especially her famous giant cinnamon rolls and comforting chicken and dumplings, brought warmth and nourishment to countless hearts and homes.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Smith, Sr., and her second husband, Wilfred Carnes; her step-son Todd Carnes; her granddaughter Sarah Smith; her daughter-in-law Ruth Murray; along with many other cherished family members who have gone before her.

Barbara leaves behind a lasting impact on her children, Gordon Smith, Mark (Alice Boenau) Smith, Nancy (Michael) Myers, Phyllis (George) Smith-Trinka, Paul (Siobhan) Smith, Jr.; stepchildren, Carla Carnes and Todd Carnes; her brother Mitchel Terry; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and a host of other family members, friends, nieces, and nephews whose lives she touched with her grace and generosity. Her memory will forever be treasured and her spirit will continue to bring comfort and light to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
